At Last...

Modest and small, but no doubt - my new HOME...

Homes

This post is particularly special because this week - change will come. whether for the best, or for the worst, at last - my time has come to go out to the world and be on my own.

So I want to talk a bit about homes and their symbolic meaning. In the book "When the Earth Trembled in Haiti" by Ariel Bar, the Israeli rescue team comes at Haiti's rescue after it is shaken by a terrible earthquake at 2010. When they arrive there, the author tries to describe the Haitian way of life through their eyes and focuses particularly on the concept "home". He says that the term is being used quite widely, and is used to describe the fancy multiple-floors houses of the elite, but also the tin-roofed piece of earth that so many people in Haiti call home.

Where is my home? Not to compare my situation to those who were dreadfully injured in the earthquake, but I've come to feel like I'm living in a house rather than a home. I need to find my place. I need to find my peaceful tiny cavity to which I can call a safe place, a room that I won't be afraid to enter -  my real home.

A few weeks ago we stopped by our cousins and saw what an amazing house they've built for themselves. It was incredible (as you can see in the attached photos). But what impressed me most of all in this place was that they all called it a home, it was their spot in the universe, where they feel safe, serene and themselves.

I've said above that this is a time of change for me. And that's cause I hope that I will finally find me a HOME... I'll keep you posted.

Views from the Early Noon...

If only there were 25 hours a day I could have blogged more.
But 24 hours are sufficient to be happy - feeling positive about the future, and that's all that matters :)

Missing Arctic Monkeys. Enjoy these pics from another wintery day at the University.

Say Hello to My Lovely Friend

The winter.
When it's burning hot from the coldness outside - I'm happy. I truely am. And it's not only because of the great fashion that the winter presents (layers, colors, and general cosiness). It's also because in the winter I feel alive. The freezing wind that slithers through the clothes, the amazing beauty of a wet city and the flourishing of trees, flowers and bushes - they all make the winter a great time to look around and appreciate the world we're living in.
This winter is going to be a time of change for me, and the time when I'll be, for the first time of my life, moving out to live by myself. And it's such a good time to be living in....

Freedom or The Beginning of a New Stage

My sister finished here military service the same day that the kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit was released after 5+ years as captive. My family and I accompanied my sis. This was an incredible double celebration, and I took advantage of the beautiful day and setting to take these pics.

May peace be the path that the world chooses eventually.

Last Days of Summer

A few weeks ago my sis and I, along with a friend and her boyfriend went in a camping trip on Rastal beach at the Kinneret. You may call it a goodbye trip from summer. You can call it a relaxation from our parents. You might even say it was a desperate call for help ("who the hell would want to sleep in a tent on the ground?" said a friend). But it was such an amazing weekend.

In honor of this weekend, attached are some pics of my sis and mine (thank's sis for shooting my behind so nicely!) and also the appropriately titled song - "Soak Up the Sun" by sheryl Crow... Although frankly I don't miss the summer days, it's still nice sometimes to wear your shorts and go to the beach.
