Art is Madrid

This post is dedicated to all the wonderful art I saw in Madrid last Year.. Yes, it's been a while, and I've wanted to write this post for so long, but unfortunatly as soon as I got back a lot of drama stated happening in my love life, so I've put some things on Hold. Anyway, now that it's safe to say it's behind me, let's get started with my most elaborate post yet.

Starting with the plazas, statues, bear, playing with glasses and street art and finishing with the Prado and Queen Sofia museums..

I don't know much about art, but I believe that eveeyone can appreciate beauty, so I hereby present you a quick summary of Madrid's Art:

Puerto de Sol - one of the best Plazas there's to see in Madrid... Surrounded by loads of shopping locations - some are more luxurious and some more affordable.

 

El Angel Caido - the fallen angel, the only statue that's dedicated solely to the devil. I just couldn't take my eyes off it...

 

La casa de cristal - located near the former statue, is used for variable exhibitions.

 

Plaza Mayor

The sky from my dorms - I fell in love with them. So pure and tender..

The Km 0 in Madrid - right on Puerta de sol.

The national bear - Mahou Bear, and Tinto the Verano - both art on themselves.

 

At a Flamenco show - such a passionate art, such a lively dance. Incredible.


At the Rastro market on Sunday - behind me there's a man who plays on glasses :).

At the Paseo del Prado - the way to prado which is swamped by plazas and fountains..

At the Prado museum: "Las 3 Gracias" by Rubens and  "The 3rd of May 1808" by Goya :) now that's some classical art!

 

Next day - Queen Sofia's Modern Art Museum..

Salvador Dali's 

Right on Puerto de Sol there's this famous confectionery that really redefines "artistic food", only for sweets. A bit expensive, bus to visit is a definite must.

Palacio Real - Royal Palace in all its BEAUTY. Even just hanging out in the gardens near by is highly recommended

A bronze man statue, sweeping the streets. Some Post-modernism for the simple men. A bit south of Puerto de Sol, walk on the street near Topshop and you'll find it, along with a nice movie theater that shows english movies - in english (which is rare in Madrid actually, hence the bold).

And finally - I've always loved "hotel art", you know? So soothing, so abstract, and so mellow on the other hand. That, and the elevator music are the 2 certain things in life. That and doubt.

 

Geekish

This is the year of Chemistry. Did you know that? Well, many don't. And since I'm such a nerd and science freak (and even planning on getting a degree in Astronomy in the future), I just had to dedicate a post to celebrate that.

I truely believe that science is our past, our present and our future, and lies at the base of our existence. And since many agree with that, last Thursday was "Scientists' Night" at Universities throughout the country to help raise awareness amongst children and teens toward science.

My friend and I (although clearly not in our teens anymore) went to the Hebrew University's event - and it was amazing. Not only did I get the chance to take some increadible landscape pics in the most beautiful campus that exists around here. I also got to learn a bit more about how chemistry and technology have helped to solve crimes in a fascinating lecture.
